20 “But I will remove the northern army far from you, And I will drive it into a parched and desolate land, And its vanguard into the eastern sea, And its rear guard into the western sea. And its stench will arise and its foul smell will come up, For it has done great things.”
Joel 2 contains a very important and encouraging message for God’s people!
If attacked, God’s people will gather and proclaim a fast.
“Then the Lord will be zealous for His land, and will have pity on His people” (Joel 2:20).
The above verse shows what will happen to any invading army!
And all of this happens BEFORE the fulfillment of Holyday 3, Pentecost!
Notice the timing being especially specified in Joel 2:28.
28 “It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions.
Joel 2:28 refers to the fulfillment of Holyday 3 – Pentecost – the BIG EVENT that occurs just before the “great and awesome day of the Lord” (Joel 2:31).
And, likewise, Joel 2:21 refers to “great things” being done by God to fulfill Holyday 2 – the BIG EVENT that occurs just before Holyday 3!
21 Do not fear, O land, rejoice and be glad, For the LORD has done great things.
This is a very encouraging news! This is showing us that God’s Holyday Plan for mankind will certainly be fulfilled – NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS!
11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
Remember what one single angel can do…
2 Kg 19:35
35 Then it happened that night that the angel of the LORD went out and struck 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians; and when men rose early in the morning, behold, all of them were dead.
And this deliverance was the result of one man’s prayer, King Hezekiah, who received a letter from messengers of the King of Assyria, threatening to destroy Judah and mocking the God of Judah.
2 Kg 19:14-19
14 Then Hezekiah took the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it, and he went up to the house of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD. 15 Hezekiah prayed before the LORD and said, “O LORD, the God of Israel, who are enthroned above the cherubim, You are the God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. 16 “Incline Your ear, O LORD, and hear; open Your eyes, O LORD, and see; and listen to the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God. 17 “Truly, O LORD, the kings of Assyria have devastated the nations and their lands 18 and have cast their gods into the fire, for they were not gods but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. So they have destroyed them. 19 “Now, O LORD our God, I pray, deliver us from his hand that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God.“
We need to follow Hezekiah’s example! It is now our responsibility, individually and collectively, to take any threats and orders of destruction against our nation before the Living God, so that we can likewise be miraculously delivered from any and all who seek to destroy us and mock our God.
This Petition is one way of taking these threats to our Living God in heaven.
